As I can’t seem to find anywhere to directly email Mr Hickey I would like to point out that this podcast was named checked by two members of Tenacious D who are currently on tour in Britain it was done at the ao Arena in Manchester during the band call.

Thank you for defending Ronnie, whose talent was wasted by spite.

So fascinating. Joe Meek was a true genius and it is such a shame that he didn’t live to see what he started. Where would psychedelic music be without him? He died in the year that homosexuality ceased to be a crime, and his mental health would shortly have improved when he was allowed to come out of the closet. I was a child when Telstar dominated the charts and I still love it. The Tornadoes were a great band.

Wonderful episode, but you really let me down when you said that false rape accusations don’t happen.

The first gig I ever went to was Harvey and the Wallbangers in 1985. If I remember aright, they opened with Sh- Boom, and it was a mix of the Chords version and that of the Crew Cuts. One other point - Bo Diddley didn’t invent anything. He just took the rhythms played by the clave in Latin music and played them on guitar.

Well researched and informative. However warnings of potentially offensive content are absurd. Eg a 4 letter word meaning faeces. Laughable.

That was very very good and brought a little bit of tears to my eyes fullness to my heart at the end hearing about Bob Marley sampling the song I’ve actually heard it many times but I just didn’t put any connections to it before this

Millie’s voice is very unpleasant to my ears... I love the Ska rhythm but her voice is just grating to me. I did see her perform live once which was exciting she is a legend no doubt and I love Ska but ooh that voice is just terrible to me.

Doesn’t look like that link I posted is going to work but you might want to copy and paste it It’s a nice little article on Clarence frogman Henry. He got married seven times twice the one woman and lives alone now with wheelchairs strategically placed around his home and the front in New Orleans

Thank you for another excellent deep lives into an obscure but important track. Again the convoluted history is very hard to follow and this is a admirable presentation of a long forgotten historical nugget and essential pieces the puzzle. Thank you for cohesive excellent recentration of a lot of information which has been otherwise further relegated to the dustbowl of history

Glad I discovered these podcasts, have a few years to catch up.. amazing research, and well presented. Being a must myself I thought I knew a bit about music and its history.. I was wrong. thank you 👍

I contacted mixcloud and they said that the reason is that it would need to be a premium account to play it due to copyright issues and what not so that’s the situation with the mixcloud for this episode

6 months ago reply 0

For shows when there’s no mix cloud maybe it would be possible to post a song list at least? That would be helpful in playing the tracks I suppose I could go through the podcast again and write them down but If there’s a list that would be awesome

I especially liked hearing about the end of his career I had never heard of Johnny Otis before and I was impressed by his Renaissance activities so diverse and interesting sounds like a great man
