Palpatine was the one who killed Plagueis btw (pronounced like Plague iss), there was a whole novel about him and their time together as master and apprentice.
Th stuff with Grevious kidnapping Palpatine and Mace crushing his lungs was shown, BEFORE the movie too, not after. In the 2003 Clone Wars microseries by Genndy Tartakovsky which was promoting the upcoming release of the movie. I think they confused it with The Clone Wars 3d show that came later a few times

Think the guys would enjoy the series, it’s more about life between purges than the purge it’s self. Definitely more interesting than this movie.
No one thought they were trying to hide the emperors identity from the audience in the prequel trilogy, the separation of sidious and palpatine is just hidden in universe for the purpose of the plot. The audience is already aware of what’s going on .
