3 years late, but I'm a new listener and wanted to share my love of Jadzia. She is my favorite character in all of Trek. Unquestionably brilliant, unapologetically sexy, and puckish enough to get away with anything. She was the pansexual thirst-trap I wanted to be, but it was her empathy that made me love her. I would have loved to see her come back and face life without Dax, interact with Ezri, and have parallel storylines address identity, impostor syndrome, and shared trauma.
After listening to this I talked to my anthropologist sister about making a better prime directive and she had this to say "in order to do so they would first have to recognize the humanity of the person" because to do otherwise is to treat the other party as a child or animal. She then went on to describe an informed-consent model. I thought this whole conversation and this episode was so fascinating.
