A wonderful admission. So many in organisations could tell the same story about true surrender 💕

You can"enjoy" something that is draining you and taking you away from your true self. This enjoying isn't spirit. It's soul.

So glad you enjoyed! A Theology of the Ordinary doesn't seem to be listed on Amazon UK, but you could order it from Amazon.com instead.

@kahassard1 : I so enjoyed listening to this, thank you both! I can't find Julie's book available in the UK, hope it becomes available soon!

Very little has moved me as much as this conversation has today.

It may take two to tango, but it only takes one to break the dance. It is never the victim's fault. We desperately need to not carry guilt that is not our burden to bear. Breaks my heart how often we get trapped by this

Wow! I did not expect such a fast reply. I've been enjoying your podcasts for a couple months (iirc, I heard about it on r/openchristian). It has been so refreshing and positive. Bless you and your wife, and your family. Stay safe! PS, it's thrilled my heart that you live in my home country.

@Jonathan Puddle : Thanks! I haven't read it but have heard many people refer to it.

@Robin : If no one else has suggested it, I would recommend "Jesus and John Wayne", by Kristen Kobes Du Mez. It's a very insightful look at the evangelical political movement in the United States (applicable to much of the western church). There is some very intentional maneuvering, which also includes taking the abortion debate and making it a single black and white, no-nuance issue. The focus of the book is more on why and how the evangelical movement aligned with the republican party, etc.

thank you for this podcast. Max's story of the prayer for his city, and the response from fellow believers of color, brought tears to my eyes

I am currently in a wilderness. Much needed time to figure things out. ❤

Thank you so much for sharing that, Karen! I will be praying for you. And yes, it's just $3/month to join. There are a few perks for people who choose to pay more but you get access to the book study either way!

@dqbbs8 : This has been very helpful. Thank you for this interview. How very practical, yet illuminating. I am in a toxic work situation where subtle bullying is the order of the day. Caring for adult individuals with various IDs (intellectual disabilities). I started doing this thinking it was a call of God bringing me here. 3 years down the line, it has shrunk who I was and friendships suffered as a result. My adult children have to pay to visit (a dealbraker in my book: even before listening to this puddcast). I have very little personal time. As soon as I have a different work situation and living arrangement, I want to join your group as a contributing follower. Thanks so much for this. Karen Diesel(van (South Africa)... Did I hear correctly. Only $3 a month?
