I haven't been to Mt Tai but I have climbed one of the other holy mountains in China, Hua Shan. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life! Straggly bits of rope and vertical cliffs with random steps cut into it. Hilarious long (very long) drop toilets - slip and you'd be a goner! It was a knackering climb, and every so often a local would zip past with a fridge on his back, delivering stuff to the hotel on the peak... It was a magical place, absolutely stunning views all the way around. I'm sure Tai Shan is just as spectacular. Anyway, just wanted to share that and let you know, Drew, that I'm still loving the podcast! I'm going to hop over to Patreon and support the show, I enjoy it so much :)

Thanks so much! I think you’ll enjoy the episodes to come; just as with most podcasts, time and experience make a huge difference. Cheers!

@autiotalo : Very much enjoying this podcast series, Drew! I think I heard your ad on the History of Byzantium pod, and I'm thrilled that upcoming episodes (I just finished Santorini) will feature some of my fave podcasters Lantern Jack, Dominic Perry and the Partial Historians. Love your sense of humour and narrative tone, and the food recommendations are great! I enjoyed the Santorini episode a lot, it's been 20 years since I was last there when, out of season, it was idyllic. Thanks for a great show, I look forward to catching up with the rest of the episodes soon.

Thanks for this comment! I really try to be as even-handed as I can. I have opinions, of course, and they do come out, but I appreciate that others can and will disagree. Better to have conversation than preachiness. Cheers!

Awesome podcast. Investigates how we got here through history accessibly but also deeply but best of all gives you tips on getting to these important places in a useful way. And the food...
