Scarborough is one of the most multicultural and diverse areas in the GTA. It’s a region that has always been home to many newcomers and immigrants. However, regardless of all of its history, Scarborough is also an area in the media that has suffered from constant-negative stereotyping being known as ”hood” a dangerous or violent place, and an area suffering poverty. King arrived in Canada in 1969 and scored a record deal with legendary producers Jack Richardson and Bob Ezrin. Through the years King has been nominated three times for Juno’s, won New Artist of the Year with his Rockit 88 Band at the Maple Blues Awards, two-time Producer and Photographer of the Year from the National Jazz Awards – four nominations for Jazz Journalist of the Year, and twice nominated for Jazz Photo of the Year by the International Jazz Journalist Association. King’s career in radio began at Q-107 in 1985, eventually building a national network, The Jazz Report Radio Network 1988-91, heard in 26 Canadian cities. Currently, King hosts the Bill King Show CIUT 89.5. Jessica Bellamy is thrilled to be a part of The Bill King Show as a technical producer and co-host since 2017. Her guest highlights include Bif Naked, Laila Biali, Les Stroud, Hilario Durand, OKAN, and Ernesto Cervini.

Deep family roots from Chimnissing (Beausoliel) First Nation, but she was born and raised in Toronto. She is an advocate for Indigenous social issues, such as equity, protection, and Inclusion of Indigenous women. She’s a hobbyist, crafter, and a single parent to a 16-year-old. Jenny Blackbird co-host/producer: Jenny Blackbird MEd, is a Nehiyaw/Finnish-Canadian multi-disciplinary artist, hand drummer, and community auntie. She works at First Nations Indigenous Student Services as the Resource Centre and Programs Coordinator. Jenny is a recipient of a University of Toronto 2019 IDERD award.

The Prophecy

Over the past three decades, The Prophecy has become the longest running and most historically significant drum-n-bass radio show in the Western Hemisphere. It has been hosted by a who’s who of Toronto DnB over the years, and its current host rotation includes Mr. Brown, Polaris, Valiant Emcee, T.R.A.C., MC D2, and RMS.

Veritable Infusion

VERITABLE INFUSION is one of several French translations for Naturally Flavoured. That is the only common denominator going on here; the music is naturally flavoured, crashing and gliding through many styles, from really old country and blues to dalliances with psychedelia, a lot of soul and funk from around the world, and usually topped off with a dose of reggae. Most weeks I insert some theme which is hoped to add some edification to the entertainment. Themes vary from the earliest Canadians to make American hits to the respective soul scenes of various countries, states and / or cities.
