How do you become YouTube famous? David Walsh knows so that is why I invited him on the Team Super Dad podcast. Like most things the answer is dedication. You have the idea and you stick with it. David is one of the most well known YouTube coaches in the world but he had no idea what he was about to start when he uploaded his first video in 2013.
It took him 10 months to reach 10,000 subscribers and three years to get to 100,000.
Enjoy the podcast episode or watch the video. You will gain some valuable tips and enjoy the chat. For detailed training jump into David's videos and courses - most of which are free.
You may have an idea that you can make a bunch of money from being on YouTube but it takes time to get to that point. David says that is still possible but you will not likely be an overnight success so prepare for the long haul
If you are not interested in the subject you are making videos on then it will be really hard to stick with it. When you make your videos do them with energy and always remember to be yourself. It is so much easier that way.
Do not worry that it has been done before. People buy from people they like and have something they want. Your videos will be watched by people that are interested in that subject. Just because someone has already made a video on that subject does not mean you cannot.
Your video will be your video. With the right title and a little optimisation when you publish, it stands just as much chance for success as another video.
If you give people entertainment and or help them solve a problem then they will continue coming back for more. One video a week is enough to get you started. For many years that is all David posted and even now he only does two per week. Pick the day that you upload each week. Make sure you do it every single week.
And finally, don't let the equipment be a concern. With a decent iPhone or Android phone you will be able to make perfectly good videos. Editing tools are available as apps from App Stores and of course good old Google - or YouTube - will have plenty of tips on how to make your videos look as good as possible.
Probably the most important thing is the sound and light. Cheap microphones are available on Amazon and eBay and light, well simply being outside will often give you good light.
Just get started and learn along the way.
