Last season in the national championship game, the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes teed off in what was the most watched women's college basketball game. The Tigers emerged victorious but it was the interactions between LSU's Angel Reese and Iowa's Caitlin Clark that sparked a nationwide debate across television and radio shows. It was a game and a rivalry that will go down in the history books as a pivotal point in the growth of women's basketball. Monday night, those two teams meet again with a trip to the Final Four on the line.
Reese and Clark both return with one goal on their minds: a championship. However, the supporting cast around those two has changed. Does LSU still have the offensive firepower to keep up with Clark's 3-point shooting without the help of Alexis Morris and LaDazhia Williams? Can the Hawkeyes muster up enough physicality in the paint to match that of the Tigers?
Clark's squad enters this game as a 1.5 point favorite. Tip off is at 6:15pm CT and the winner will advance to the Final Four in Cleveland to take on the winner of UCONN-USC.
