Today on The Stories Collective we are so excited to be sharing an interview with our first mother-son duo Janna and Luke Montgomery! This story starts in China with Luke's earliest memories being in an orphanage. He has no memory of his birth mother and describes what life was like in the orphanage. Unfortunately, it was a rough and dingy environment with very little adult supervision or even care. Luke also shares about an older boy who was an abuser to not only himself but some other younger kids. He didn't know what life would look like outside of the orphanage, but he knew that he wanted out. Meanwhile in the U.S. Janna and her husband Jeff were living life as a young married couple with Jeff being in the Air Force. They desired to have children but sadly struggled with infertility. While being stationed in Korea their eyes began to be opened to the possibility of adoption. They quickly ended up adopting a little two-year-old girl from Mississippi named Grace. Jeff and Janna now found themselves with a heart and passion for adoption. They started the process to adopt a child from Russia, but Janna kept coming across this little albino boy in an orphanage in China. God was leading the Montgomerys to this boy. This story is one that is hard to summarize in the show notes! Listen in to hear about how Luke became a part of the Montgomery family, what it looked like to go through adoption while being active military, how Luke began to heal from his trauma and got to have an actual childhood, the Lord's hand and really so much more! Your heart will be touched as Janna describes all of this as the ministry of adoption - in total they have adopted 8 children from across the world. The Montgomery family is moving to Alabama later this month and we will certainly miss them!
