Dr. Carl Hart is professor of neuroscience and psychology at Columbia University. He is one of the world’s leading experts on addiction and how drugs interact with the brain. In addition to articles in leading science journals, Dr. Hart’s popular writing has been featured in such outlets as The New York Times, Scientific American, and The Nation.
His new book is Drug Use for Grown-Ups: Chasing Liberty in the Land of Fear.
Dr. Hart explains how myths about the use of narcotics and other mood-altering drugs have confused the American people about the differences between responsible and irresponsible drug use.
Dr. Hart also highlights how a humane and truly free society would allow adults to make choices about the types of substances they put inside of their own bodies. And Dr. Hart shares his thoughts on how racism and white supremacy are directly connected to how American society stigmatizes and punishes drug use.
Chauncey DeVega has returned to the movies and shares his reviews of The Little Things and News of the World. He also warns that the violent Republican Christian fascist white supremacist anti-Semitic Q-Anon conspiracist MTG congresswoman is very dangerous and not someone to laugh at or mock as some Democrats, liberals and others have chosen to.
And Chauncey is very angry at Joe Biden and the corporate Democrats who are suggesting that 1,400 survival checks be “means-tested”, so that (formerly) middle class Americans are made to suffer even more.
