Private Wealth Manager | Podcast Host | Author
Frazer Rice focuses on Family Office Infrastructure, Trusts and Estates, Private Company Board and Charity, Multi-Generational Wealth & Trustee Consulting for Next Capital.
Frazer has written the book Wealth, Actually: Intelligent Decision-Making for the 1% and produces the successful “Wealth Actually” Podcast. He appears on a variety of media and industry panels to discuss wealth management practice, trusts and estates, family dynamics issues, and tax policy. He is on the Board of the New York City Estate Planning Council and is Co-Head of its Programming Committee. He received his B.A. in Political Science and History from Duke University and his J.D. from Emory University School of Law. Frazer lives in Manhattan and enjoys golf, travel, horror movies, media production, and writing.
Today, we start with one of my favorite quotes from Frazer’s book: “Very few of life’s important answers are found in a pitch book or a slide deck.” – he further adds, “Unfortunately, the financial services industry makes its money, from the sale of products.” — He shares some advice how to navigate this fascinating, but challenging environment.
We focus on the importance of anticipation when providing advice. We also tackle a big question: what it means to be rich?
Frazer introduces the distinctions between current and legacy wealth, retirement planning vs. estate planning.
We have a lively discussion about sudden windfalls, and Frazer proposes another way of looking at this life-changing event.
Stay tuned until the end, when we talk about the real fear of losing it all.
