Welcome back to Ctrl Alt Delete, my guest today is Sharon Walters: a London-based artist, speaker & freelance educator who creates hand-assembled collages celebrating Black women. The series, entitled 'Seeing Ourselves' explores under-representation in many arenas in particular, the arts, magazines and western media. The work encourages us to take up space, be seen and create our own spaces.
I first discovered Sharon's art on Instagram and she is someone who has uses the platform brilliantly to celebrate and share her work, as well as grow it as a business. In this episode we talk about how to turn a passion project into a sustainable business, when you know its right to quit a job, how creating art and doing things with your hands can be a brilliant form of self-care and therapy during hard times, plus a discussion about setting boundaries on social media.
To check out more of her beautiful work, follow along on Instagram @London_artist1 or visit her shop here.
