Her new book Adventures in Volcanoland: What Volcanoes Tell Us About the World and Ourselves takes us along with her, exploring humanity's complex relationship with these fiery giants through history, art and science. The book charts a course from the rock beneath our feet to the atmosphere above us and even beyond to extraterrestrial volcanoes on distant exoplanets.
