''Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days'' (Galatians 1:18).
In his epistle to the Galatians, Paul tells the congregation about two visits with Peter. One good. One not so good. This is round one.
Three years after his conversion, Paul finally comes to meet Peter. What a meeting that must have been! The self-proclaimed chief of the Apostles and the one-time greatest persecutor of the Way. Anyone watching and knowing the history would have expected a fist fight to break out.
But it was peaceful. Fifteen days together and no fireworks. However, there was no time for Peter to have taught Paul the entire Gospel in that short time. Paul adds this historical note to firm up his assertion that his Gospel is from Christ and not from any man.
The two met as brothers who had never met. They departed each other's company with lives that would never be the same. May you have this privilege with a Christian man or woman in your life. Amen.
