Matt Groening is a legend in the Diabolical Penthouse. Not only did he create and base the Simpsons on his own life experiences, but he stuck to his vision and crafted the most dominant television program in history. The Simpsons will go down as not only a cultural icon but as inspiration for so many television shows that followed. Thank you, Mr. Groening, for creating a wonderful universe for us to visit time and time again, as well as all of the great laughs and memories. We salute you!

The Treehouse of Horror episodes of The Simpsons really took on a life of their own and became a classic Halloween tradition, particularly in the Diabolical Penthouse. The writers did a great job giving us some very inspired, fantastical stories and the marketing was beyond sublime. Both FOX and The Simpsons creative did a great job at making these episodes feel like a major event every year. It’s no secret that more than a few Treehouse of Horror moments rank among our very favorite in The Simpsons long and storied history. Check the links below for a few classic examples.

Among all of the early protestors to The Simpsons television show, probably their most noteworthy and powerful came from the White House itself; in the form of President George Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush. The Bushes felt The Simpsons was responsible for perpetuating the decline of family values and urged viewers not to watch. In classic fashion, the writers of The Simpsons responded with a few well placed letters and remarks in the show itself… even going so far as to have George Bush move to Springfield in the classic episode “Two Bad Neighbors.” Though the writers poked a lot of fun at Bush, they were very careful not to make it a political based attack, and instead made fun of George Bush the man- essentially branding him a grumpy old man who didn’t have a sense of humor. The Simpsons took on the White House and they ultimately won… it really doesn’t get more powerful than that. In fact, in our humble opinion, the Bush family really only helped elevate the mystique of The Simpsons to an epic proportion. Truly, haters are going to hate.
