Welcome back to Therapy Chat! This week host Laura Reagan, LCSW-C interviews Tavi Hawn, LCSW-C about their newest book (January 2022), The Gender Identity Guide for Parents- Compassionate Advice to Help Your Child Be Their Most Authentic Self.
This was an interesting and important conversation. Tavi is a wonderful teacher who guides a discussion about supporting children around their gender identity that is compassionate and vulnerable. You'll enjoy this thought-provoking conversation about children's gender identity and parenting.

In the past Tavi was co-founder of a multi-racial LGBTQ+ holistic wellness collaborative in NC and co-founder of a nonprofit summer camp for queer and trans youth and youth of queer and trans parents.
They have written 2 books: Cultural Awareness in Therapy with Trans, Two Spirit, and Gender Non Conforming Adults and Older People and their recent book: The Gender Identity Guide for Parents- Compassionate Advice to Help Your Child Be Their Most Authentic Self.
Tavi holds Master's degrees in Theological Studies and Social Work but their best education has been life experience and learning under elders, trans and Two Spirit healers, and transformative justice movement workers. Tavi provides consulting and training services to organizations and individuals on a variety of topics and hopes that this leads to more affirming environments everywhere for their community members.
