We all get lonely sometimes. Some of us can be lonely while surrounded by people, and others of us might be lonely because we have no one else. And I'm not going to say either one is worse, but it's interesting to ask yourself which one you'd rather be.
Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts.
My guest today is Shila Patel. Doctor Patel was a psychiatrist for over 25 years, working with diverse ages and population along the east coast of the US. For about 15 years she was one of only two child psychiatrists in her area, able to watch and observe a generation of children becoming adults. She's since retired and written various books, one of which focuses on why we, the human race, are growing lonelier and choosing to not engage in relationships until much later, if at all. And as with most things in life these days, it's killing us.
Unrelated, remember this is a featured podcast on the Podbean streaming service. Check it out if you're looking for a wonderful listening experience for all your favorite shows. They're helping me reach so many new listeners, who will hopefully also tell other people about the show...

Let's address our isolation!
I know it's a deeply uncomfortable premise, for whatever reason, but I think the best thing you can do after hearing this episode is to just call
any of your friends that maybe you haven't spoken to in a little while. It doesn't have to be a long lost friend or anything. I called one of my
best friends in the world just because it was nice to hear his voice instead of only texting him.
The February rankings as we reach the end of the month are looking pretty close:
1. The United States, still led by New York, California, and Oregon. With a number of others very close behind.
2. Canada, with Quebec just barely over British Columbia.
3. Australia, still led by New South Wales.
4. England of The United Kingdom.
5. New Zealand, getting bumped down, but still hanging in there.
That's it for this week! Have a great week, a great weekend, and I'll see you all back here next week for another new episode!
Until the next episode, pretty please do all the things to help the show: rate, review, like, and subscribe.
