Hello friends! Musician and Band Aid School of Music director, James Mays. James talks about his latest project, a new philanthropic x music initiative from Austin-based multimedia company Nelda Studios, foster care nonprofit Austin Angels and the Band Aid School of Music - “A Chance to Rock,” a nonprofit program initiative that provides music lessons and instruments to children experiencing foster care. “A Chance to Rock” just recently launched and as part of the launch, local Austin musicians Kathy Valentine (The Go-Go’s), Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel), Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas), Nakia (The Voice), Matthew Logan Vasquez (Delta Spirit) and Zach Person have recorded PSAs to kick off the fundraising drive for the program. The PSAs and donation page can be found at www.achancetorock.org with proceeds going directly to increasing the number of foster families participating, as well as expanding the initiative to include camps, group classes, single-day activities and concerts. We have a great convo about his journey as a musician and educator, starting the Band Aid School of Music (bandaidschoolofmusic.com) and much more. I had a great time catching up with my old friend. I'm sure you will too. Let's get down!
