EPISODE 302 - Chuck and Stacey continue Part 2 conversation with talent manager, Jason Helzner and voice actor, Scott Rummell who explains what’s so impressive and admirable about his manager and friend. The two share some fun and interesting stories about working together as well as the demands of working in the fast-paced movie trailer business. Scott and Jason offer some guidance for those who want to pursue a career in voice over and in movie trailers. Jason shares some of his early background in Los Angeles as an actor, which is why now he understands talent and their needs so well. Some key points are having persistence and patience, developing your skill sets, get coaching and study the craft, be a lifetime learner, build your confidence, be willing to put in the time and effort and don’t expect instant results. Jason speaks to why you need to have an agent and experience before you work with a manager. Scott talks about the level of expertise that need to be present to work at the top levels of promo and movie trailers, using examples of icons like Rob Paulsen and Jim Cummings that have that level of mastery in animation. They speak to how they handle not getting the job every time and the importance of doing your best and surrendering the outcome. Scott and Jason explain what “Tag Day” is and why it’s their favorite day and the episode ends with some fun, a lot of heart and abundant gratitude.
