The EU will have to consider “stronger measures” against the UK government if it introduces legislation that overrides the Protocol on Northern Ireland and breaches international law.
That’s the view of Fianna Fail MEP Barry Andrews who was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Taoiseach Micheál Martin will address the Parliament on Wednesday morning.
There’s widespread speculation the British government will introduce a controversial bill that would disapply parts of the Protocol.
Barry Andrews says “continuous appeasement” of the UK government is “achieving nothing”.
