As we move back into aspects of our lives that have been affected by the pandemic over the last year, it can reveal to us the many ways in which we perceived our freedoms. Some freedoms are returning in new forms and others may never be part of our everyday existence again. But with changes come new freedoms as well or shifts in how we balance freedom and responsibility in our lives. Can we relate this to our horses? Can our own loss of freedom open us up to the ways our domesticated animals enjoy some safetys, but at the price of certain freedoms. Perhaps that empathy can help us to explore ways to share freedoms where possible.
