A new law just voted through the European Parliament will make the internet safer – that’s according to Sean Kelly. MEPs have voted for the draft Digital Services Act. Negotiations on the final text will now start with ministers. Under the proposals, the internet giants will be responsible for policing disinformation and taking down illegal content. The European Parliament is also pushing for targeted personalised advertising to be curtailed. Ireland South MEP, Sean Kelly, welcomed the vote which he says will mean real changes for consumers.
