What are YOU drinking? Last week during our Batman v Superman review, we announced that we'd be temporarily postponing the segment in the lead-up to my wedding next month. After a very vocal fanbase cried out to keep the segment in place, I decided to run a poll on our twitter page, and you responded with a resounding: KEEP DRINKING!! With over 75% of the votes in the affirmative, "What're you drinkin'?" will remain the opening segment of the Epic Film Guys podcast for a long time to come, and we'll just have to cut out a few drinks elsewhere to make up for it.
Speaking of our fans, through twitter this week I asked for listeners to submit questions, and we did get a few to respond to! We'll discuss films that we'd refuse to watch under penalty of death, as well as our best & worst theater-going experiences and potential villains for Man of Steel 2, which we're less and less likely to get with the critical thrashing Batman v Superman received.
This week will see the return of our Epic Previews segment, in which we'll be taking a look at a few trailers that have landed since last time we did the segment. We review the Lego Batman teasers, the newest trailer for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, the surreal comedy Swiss Army Man starring Daniel Radcliffe, Paul Dano, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Blood Father, the Jean-François Richet directed thriller starring Mel Gibson and William H. Macy.
Speaking of Mel Gibson, we'll also briefly discuss his currently-in-post-production Hacksaw Ridge, directed by Gibson and starring himself with Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Hugo Weaving & Gibson himself. Garfield plays WWII American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who served during the Battle of Okinawa, refuses to kill people and becomes the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Last, but most certainly not least, we finish off this episode with the long-awaited second part of our Batman 1989 commentary! We'll be putting the finishing touches on the second half of the film and releasing the entire commentary very shortly in the future. In the meantime, if there are other commentary tracks you'd love to hear us on, let us know! We'll be happy to record them for your listening pleasure.
As mentioned toward the end of the show, please take a moment and visit https://www.etsy.com/shop/thegnomeworkshop and support my friends Brian and Kim by buying their book! It is personalized with the child's name, and is an adorable story with original artwork. Please help share the love for them!
