What was Jonah thinking when he jumped on a ship to escape God? Even the pagan sailors are in disbelief (Jonah 1: 10). What is Jonah thinking as he goes below deck to sleep, say's 'throw me overboard', sinks deep into the sea, hangs out the belly of the fish (or Sheol) for a few days, walks 400 miles to Nineveh, preaches judgement and then awaits compassion instead? What are the beliefs and thoughts that drive this eccentric prophet? And how might they contrast the mind of God?
