Today on Feminine Roadmap we are talking about the power of intention with Dr. Greg Hammer. Dr. Greg talks about how his GAIN meditation method empowers us to facilitate healing and develop a healthy mind. Suffering is a universal experience but it doesn’t have to be the defining factor in our lives. When we experience pain and we resist it, it causes more suffering. Dr. Greg reminds us that while we can’t avoid pain, we can shift the way we view it to begin to serve us instead of hurt us more. Gratitude is the first step in the GAIN method – recognizing that we all have something or someone to be grateful for every day. Gratitude has a powerful healing impact on the brain and we can tap into that anytime we choose. Next is acceptance- the ability to embrace and acknowledge the painful things that have happened to us and stop resisting them. Acceptance allows us to begin to discern what we can and cannot change. Once we understand that we can turn our energy toward more supportive thoughts and habits. That leads right in to the I in the GAIN method- intention. Intention is the way we choose to see and think about what happens to and around us. Intention allows us to be proactive when and where we can. Dr. Greg encourages listeners to start an end of day practice called 3 good things. Three good things is simply stating three things that they experienced throughout the day that brought them joy or enjoyment. While it can be done internally, it can also be recorded so we can see the build up of the good things in our lives. And the final step is non-judgement- being able to go through our days without needing to see people and experiences as good or bad. Dr. Greg encourages benevolent indifference – moving through our days without anger, frustration and resistance. The power of intention allows us to get and stay in the drivers seat.
