During the second half of 19th Century, during Portland's Victorian heyday, saloons, bordellos and boardinghouses catered to the working class and visitors coming through. After a night of drinking some of these unsuspecting folks awoke on a ship bound for Asia after being drugged, kidnapped and carried through a series of underground tunnels leading to the waterfront where they were sold into slave labor thus being "shanghaied." Some of these passageways still exist under Old Town, Chinatown and downtown Portland and some have said they are the most haunted locations in Oregon. Join Christine and Kim as they explore the origins of these creepy underground systems, their purpose and how one can plan a visit.
