Growing Women as Key Business Resources in African Finance Space with Hedwige Nuyens
In 2017, the World Economic Forum noted that female talent remains one of the most underutilized business resource. In this podcast, Nuru Mugambi and Hedwige Nuyens explore whether and how much that has changed in the past 4 years in the role women play in the financial service sector. The duo recap Hedwige's non-traditional path to becoming the Managing Director at the International Banking Federation, reflecting on the role of support, mentorship, collaboration, role of recognition and having an impact as key to helping more women rise in the African Finance Space. Nuru and Hedwige also touch on some of the lessons Europe can learn from Africa in mobile money, and analyse how the successes of women like Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-general of the World Trade Organization could inspire African women to show up purposefully and embrace diversity.
