Cannibalizations are a widely used aviation practice to bridge the supply gap to fulfill operation requirements. For today's episode, we review a report filed by the General Accounting Office (GAO) about how cannibalizations can adversely affect aviation personnel AND maintenance. We've all, at one point, have done CANNs to make a plane flyable, some at the expense of another aircraft because of operational pressures and revenue. What happens when these "quick fixes" get repeatedly used and then go underreported, or worse, unreported?
