Big one for you today. Master this lesson and your life will never be the same. Today I'm going to teach you how to keep that evil demonic force known as discouragement at bay. There are several things the scriptures teach us to do and by simply following the "anti-discouragement formula" you can stop it as soon as it tries to come on to you.
Scriptures mentioned in today's sermon:
Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.r
PROVERBS 18:20-21 A man’s [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil].
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].
PHIL 4:6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
PHIL 8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
Psalm 138:3, NLT As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.
Isaiah 41:10, NIV So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Jeremiah 29:11-12, NIV For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Psalm 43:5, NLT Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again – my Savior and my God!
2 Corinthians 4:17-18
17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
… Discouragement and disappointment come when our hope is in something other than God. A result, a person, a thing…money
Isaiah 26:3
3 You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.
NLT: You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
