Dan Sheehan - Writing as a Tool to Heal from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
"It became an act of cowardice that I would refuse to deal with my own emotional baggage [in the] aftermath of combat and pass that onto [my son]."
-Dan Sheehan
Dan Sheehan served twelve years as a helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps. After leaving active duty, he turned to writing as a means to gain perspective on how his experiences in combat had changed him. This journey of self-discovery led him to publish After Action: The True Story of a Cobra Pilot's Journey, and Continuing Actions: A Warrior's Guide to Coming Home.
Both books won multiple awards and After Action became required reading for all Marines when it was named to the USMC Commandant's Professional Reading Program in 2020. He's now writing a humorous adventure fantasy series on Amazon's new serialized novel platform, Kindle Vella. His story's title is The Judas Goat and it marks his transition into fiction.
