This week, Katie and Liz take a step back from murder and despair and discuss a case that hits very close to home: The Incident at Exeter! In 1965, 18-year-old Norman Muscarello is hitchhiking his way home from his girlfriends house when he suddenly is overtaken with bright red lights that blind him and frankly, freak him out. After hiding in a ditch on the side of the road watching the unidentified flying object sway and blink above him, Norman flags down a couple driving along and they bring the panicked boy to the nearest police station in Exeter, New Hampshire. Norman and two police officers, Eugene Bertrand Jr. and David Hunt, join the boy at the location in which he had this crazy encounter, and to the police officers surprise- the spacecraft is still there. To this day, a UFO festival commemorating this event occurs every Labor Day weekend, filled with blow-up aliens, funky costumes, and extraterrestrial themed fun.
