Wondering why a lot of diets fail? Or why is it that you keep going to the refrigerator at night? Several studies suggest that the reason most diets fail is that people are barking up the wrong tree. Trisha Nelson joins us today as she shares how being overweight is a symptom of overeating and how overeating is a symptom of what's eating you.
Trisha has spent over 30 years researching the hidden causes of addictive personality. She is an internationally acclaimed author, transformational speaker, and emotional eating expert. Her story sparked my interest as I had recently been aware of my own healing and personal issues with food and gut health.
Trisha was obsessed with food and that obsession translated into being overweight. By age 20, she was 50 pounds overweight. She hated exercise that at some point, she even considered joining the army so she'd be forced to exercise at boot camp. Eventually, she met somebody who showed her that her problem had nothing to do with food, but it was really an emotional issue. He helped her deal with it by going deeper and dealing with the underlying causes – realizing she had a living problem and not an eating problem – and all that changed her entire life.
Today, Trisha shares her journey with emotional eating and how it prompted her to write the book, Heal Your Hunger: 7 Simple Steps to End Emotional Eating Now. Hopefully, this soulful conversation today with Trisha inspires everyone who’s also dealing with emotional eating issues or addiction to food so they can ultimately achieve healing.
