Sean was born and raised in Redmond, WA. He began training shotokan karate at 6 yrs old. Earned my black belt at 12 years old. Also played baseball (left handed pitcher) growing up and played DI at Washington State University before signing a professional contract in the Independent Leagues - pitched for 6 years. In 2003, he began teaching karate to youth and adult students, during the baseball off-season. Sean's passion for teaching, educating and developing students is contagious, energetic and genuine. Sean is an international karate competitor and senior instructor at Washington Shotokan Association. Sean discusses the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of martial arts - karate is for everyone! And how having mental and emotional balance, being present and having awareness of one's breath have helped him overcome some of life's greatest hurdles.
