I'm Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain, my purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God. By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina:
Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization.
Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.
Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:
Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate.
Bible verses for Meditation:
Deuteronomy 18
NRSV
15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you shall heed such a prophet. 16 This is what you requested of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said: “If I hear the voice of the Lord my God any more, or ever again see this great fire, I will die.” 17 Then the Lord replied to me: “They are right in what they have said. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall speak to them everything that I command. 19 Anyone who does not heed the words that the prophet shall speak in my name, I myself will hold accountable.
NASB
15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen; to him you shall listen. 16 This is in accordance with everything that you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Do not let me hear the voice of the Lord my God again, and do not let me see this great fire anymore, or I will die!’ 17 And the Lord said to me, ‘They have spoken well. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them everything that I command him. 19 And it shall come about that whoever does not listen to My words which he speaks in My name, I Myself will require it of him.
Meditation on Scripture:
In Acts Chapter 3 Paul claims that this scripture is referring to Jesus Christ. The greater prophet who will come and give the word of the Lord. More importantly as John says. Jesus IS the Word. The God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob is the same God. He told how He would come into the world. He told us what we needed to do and here Moses is telling how important it will be to heed the words of Jesus. It is essential.
The Lord prepared everything in advance. He knew what would be needed. He knew what errors we would make and what help we would need. He knew what sins we would commit and how we would be lost without a Savior. As such, he offers a Savior. He offers His own son. Why did God tell us all of this? What does God want us to do with this information?
What does God want you to do? Are you heeding His voice?
Jesus is the great prophet, one greater than John the Baptist, greater than any man. The only sinless person to ever walk the earth, and yet he was not just a person. He was far more. He was the Messiah, the Anointed one to take away the sins of the world through His sacrifice.
Meditation of Prayer:
Pray as directed by the Spirit.
Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him.
Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm:
I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials.
