In the Spring of 1995, two young women were finishing their junior year at the prestigious Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The girls were Sinedu Tadesse and Trang Ho, roommates, study buddies and, by all accounts, friends, and had been for the past two years. Even though Sinedu was a transplant from Ethiopia and Trang an immigrant from Vietnam, the women had many similarities. Both were gentle-mannered, hardworking, serious, 20-year-old junior premed Biology majors and both were incredibly brilliant. But what set Sinedu apart from Trang was the unfortunate fact that she suffered from significant mental issues, ones that, when left undiagnosed, would lead to loneliness, jealousy, rage, and, ultimately, to a breaking point that would end in unimaginable tragedy.
