This week on #TubtaNabadda, we celebrate UN Day, observed globally on 24 October, which marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter.
For this year’s United Nations’ anniversary, we interview James Swan, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia. He explains how, 76 years after its creation, the United Nations remains very relevant to the current global situation. Mr. Swan also also speaks about the long-term partnership between Somalia and the United Nations, and how the world body’s work is aligned with country’s priorities in peacebuilding, democratization, and development.
