Why Shouldn’t I HATE My Neighbor? Mt5:43 s4e138
Loving neighbors might be easy. Loving and seeking the highest good for my enemies definitely is not. Why might I want to participate in this activity?
We are supposed to be involved in reflecting, resembling, and representing Jesus on this earth. We are supposed to be bearing His image and here, doing what He did. Why? I'd say first, because He said so. Second, because by bearing this family resemblance activity, we demonstrate we "get it" that He did the same for us. He loved us when we were enemies.
The big reason, though, is that these Godly and godly kindnesses may lead to repentance. It is the impossible thing that God has been doing for centuries. By loving, we are demonstrating to His enemies the good news of reconciliation. It is actually EVANGELICAL.
