Just Life - Emma Gardner
In early November, the diocese welcomed its new Head of Environment, Dr Emma Gardner.
She joins the Diocese of Salford from the University of Manchester, where she held the position of Head of Environmental Sustainability for over eight years.
Prior to the University, Emma was a Regional Director with the international consultancy AECOM, working on national and international sustainability projects.
Emma has a PhD in Environmental Sustainability from The University of Salford and brings over 25 years of experience to the role.
Working closely with Bishop John, who is Environment Lead for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, Emma will lead transformation in keeping with Laudato Si while providing strategic leadership to support environmental practices across our diocese and beyond.
Emma will also manage the flagship Laudato Si Centre, an exciting initiative which based at Wardley Hall. She said: “I am delighted to be working with the Diocese of Salford to build on the good work already happening. It’s a great year to start in this role, on the fifth anniversary year of the publication of Laudato Si’.
