Who Killed Canberra Grandmother Irma Palasics?
Episode 236:
On November 6, 1999, Canberra grandmother Irma Palasics was on the floor of her home, her face gaffe taped, drowning in her own blood from a broken nose as violent intruders ransacked the home, looking for money and valuables.
Her husband Gregor was also brutally assaulted and was unconscious for a time and he made the call to emergency services to report his wife’s murder.
Irma’s grandson John Makita feels that the case is tantalisingly close to being solved but frustratingly, despite a few breakthroughs on the case and a $500,000 reward, no one has been arrested. Police believe that members of the Hungarian community in Melbourne can provide the vital clue to the identity of the people who killed Irma.
This was a brutal crime and as we’ve seen with some cold cases in recent years, it can just take one call, or the smallest piece of information that can bring families some answers. This case can be solved.
