BCBSRI has entered Rhode Island’s dual eligible market for this fall’s annual enrollment period. What does that mean? Dual eligible means those who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. There are approximately 37,000 Rhode Island residents who are eligible for what’s called a dual special needs plan or D-SNP. This is a special Medicare Advantage plan that provides health benefits for this group, and BCBSRI’s D-SNP plan is BlueRI for Duals. In this episode, we’ll talk with Christina Pitney and Leanna Moran who manage BCBSRI’s Duals and Government Programs to discuss the WHY behind BCBSRI’s entry into the Duals market, who is Duals eligible and what it means to be Duals eligible, because it can be critically important to you or a loved one in receiving the care you deserve.Resources mentioned in this episode:www.bcbsri.com/medicarewww.ripin.orgwww.cms.govSenior Health Insurance Program (SHIP): www.oha.ri.gov/Medicare
