"I love meeting people's mom. It's like reading an instruction manual as to why they are nuts."
~Ted Lasso
This quote is perfection. The truth it holds is powerful and brutal. It is so easy to see that from the outside of ourselves when meeting the in-laws, or being inside someone else's hometown experience. But, when the table turns, and we use that wisdom to examine our own instruction manual, it can be pretty uncomfortable.
As we grow and change and become, and "unbecome", these familiar, but less frequented spaces can be a brutiful place to reflect on how we have changed and it challenges us to stay true to our own progress. Adding fuel to the flame, is the insanity of these times, especially after many of us had a year off from these familiar gathering spaces.
The reminder is to me is that we are complex, messy, beautiful creatures who have adapted to survive, and at the heart of all of it is our innate need for love and connection.
Happy Holidays Friends.
