John Tamny is the Vice President and Director of the Center for Economic Freedom at FreedomWorks, the editor of Real Clear Markets and Senior Economic Adviser to Applied Finance Group. As an author, his latest publication is ‘When Politicians Panicked: The New Coronavirus, Expert Opinion, and a Tragic Lapse of Reason’.

In this interview we focused on John’s primary argument – that we are witnessing massive swings toward centralised economic planning. This leads to his diagnosis that more freedom is actually safer at the population level, and we are abandoning that safety for psuedo-safety which is actually more dangerous.
