State-of-the-Art Prostate Surgeries: Dr. Mistry Describes the Urolift, Rezum, Aquablation, and More!
Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.
In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a listener question about retrograde ejaculation and possibly needing repeat prostate surgery. This listener asks, "Hi, enjoy your show. I'm 63. I've had a Urolift and a TURP surgery, which were successful for some time. My symptoms of BPH are returning and my current doctor suggest another TURP surgery to correct. Is retrograde emac reversible?" Dr. Mistry reminds us that some providers are only willing to discuss treatment options that they themselves provide--indeed, in situations where all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. At NAU Urology Specialists, we give patients detailed information on all of the possible interventions for treating their health conditions, and if we don't offer them in our clinic, we can recommend an excellent provider who does. We also encourage all patients to get second opinions when major decisions are being made about any aspect of their health. If a physician is offended by your seeking a second opinion, that's a big red flag. Dr. Mistry goes on to say that while retrograde ejaculation is likely irreversible in this case, there are several advanced prostate surgery options available for treating the BPH concern without causing retrograde ejaculation for patients who don't already have this concern. These include microwave therapy, the Urolift Rezum, water vapor therapy and Aquablation. Aquablation is a new, state-of-the-art procedure that uses intense water pressure to remove prostate tissue. If you or a loved one are experiencing prostate issues and/or have been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate, prostate cancer, or retrograde ejaculation due to prostate problems, please give us a call today and we'll ensure that you get the best possible treatment!
Dr. Mistry is a board-certified urologist and has been treating patients in the Austin and Greater Williamson County area since he started his private practice in 2007.
