Solomon was king after his famous father, David, in ancient Israel. He also became insanely wealthy. According to the world’s standard, he had everything.
Everything except peace later in life. In this way, he was like a modern person, because truthfully, people’s natures never really change over time. It’s one of the things we have talked about this week.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
Solomon came to some conclusions later in life, after he became bored with bad relationships, money, and fame. It was only then that he figured some things out.
The book of Ecclesiastes contains this wisdom that King Solomon found in his later years, and he tells us clearly that God is infinitely smarter than we are, and knows what is best for each of us.
So, if you’ve been trying to figure things out for yourself—and failing miserably—listen to the ways Solomon describes God. You’ll find that the One that made you knows just what is best for you all your life.
Doesn’t that take some pressure off?
Let’s pray. Lord, please take our burdens and fix the problems we have created for ourselves. We love you for that. Amen.
