Olympic Special: Our tales from the Rio Olympics plus interview with Elise Hooper, author Fast Girls, A Novel of the 1936 Women's Olympic Team
Welcome to the first of our special August 2020 episodes. With or without Tokyo, we've got Olympic Fever! First up, we share the highlights of our Rio Olympics episode August 21, 2016. Lian and Liz came home from Rio full of tales to share with Julie and the whole sisterhood and misterhood. Track & Field, Swimming, Sandwiches and Beer. It was a great trip. Some athlete highlights we witnessed: Usain Bolt wins the 100m, Simone Manuel scores gold in the 100m Free, Michael Phelps doubles in front of our eyes, Wayde van Niekerk sets a new world record in the Men's 400m and Michelle Carter uses her last throw to claim that shot put gold.
In the second half of the show, Lian interviews Elise Hooper author of FAST GIRLS, A Novel of the 1936 Women's Olympic Team. We featured this book on our 2020 Best Beach Bag Books list which you can see here. You can order any book on that list in our Satellite Sisters Bookshop.org shop here. An excellent way to support indie bookstores.
Lian thanks all the sisters and misters who have been vacationing with The Sweeney Sisters. Don't have your copy yet? To order Lian's novel The Sweeney Sisters go to amazon or bookshop.org (which supports indie bookstores.)
