400 I Am The Alpha And The Omega, A Guided Christian Meditation on Revelation 21:5-7 with the Recenter With Christ app
I'm Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain, my purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God. By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina:
Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization.
Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.
Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:
Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate.
Bible verses for Meditation:
Revelation 21
NIV
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
NASB
5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He *said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give water to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life, without cost. 7 The one who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.
Meditation on Scripture:
God will make all things new. What does that mean? The way things are right now are not eternal. This earth and life are meant to be transient. There is an end to all things, but those that God decrees. He is the beginning and the end. All bad things eventually end, through Him. All bad things will end through Him. Yet he is there in the beginning. He has been around long before any of us and he will be there at the end ensuring that they end well. When our life takes unexpected and tragic turns, we can get trapped by the darkness. We may feel at times that the world will remain forever shrouded in curtains that prevent us from seeing God’s love and light but that is not the case. When our time on this earth ends and we arrive back at His side, I believe that all these earthly struggles will lose their potency and yet at this moment in our existence He was willed that we be here.
In the beginning God was light and that light will penetrate every dark corner. There is no place where His voice will not be heard. There is no place that is hidden from His ability to shine his light. There exist no impenetrable places for Him who can light all things. As in the beginning, the end will be full of His light. He offers to each of us that this light is available to us. Although there may be moments in our life where we may not feel it or see it, it will not be forever hidden from us.
How grateful I am that God offers this light to us. He will make us new, he will destroy what chains us down as we faithfully follow Him. God offers us to be joint heirs with Christ to all the Father has. Such an idea is something we cannot fully understand but He has created us to be His children. He is the living water and at the end of all things light will surround Him as he draws those who trust him forward to Him. If you find yourself struggling with faith, with doing those things that God has asked of you, may you place your faith in Jesus. May you place your faith in Jesus the Christ who will deliver us.
Meditation of Prayer:
Pray as directed by the Spirit.
Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him.
Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm:
I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials.
Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life:
