Well, Universe, Conor McGregor is no longer the UFC featherweight champion. Just like we always knew it would, the announcement that McGregor had “relinquished” the 145-pound title (totally willingly, we assume) came like three-and-a-half hours into a six-and-a-half hour UFC Fight Night event live from Melbourne, Australia. With McGregor now merely the UFC lightweight champion, the ripple effects will spread through the featherweight division. That includes having Max Holloway fight Pretty Tony Pettis (really?) for an interim 145-pound champion while Jose Aldo is promoted to “completely undisputed God of all he surveys” or something like that. So Ben and Chad talk about all that on this episode of the Co-Main Event Podcast, while also dipping into Robert Whittaker’s victory over Derek Brunson last Saturday and next weekend’s TUF 24 live finale, where the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter on the planet of Earth takes on a reality show winner.
All that, plus AYFKM and JSS.
