What better way to kick off 2022 and the '25 Years of Steps' celebration than a new episode deep-diving into this legendary British pop group's discography? Pop fans, we know you've been waiting for this one!
Join our 2000s pop defenders Joel and David as they unpack Steps' third studio album "Buzz", which saw the group level-up their sound and image for a new millennium. After achieving global success with their signature effervescent 90s ABBA-style bangers, Steps were ready to spread their wings and take creative control. Working with new producers and leaning into the teen-pop boom, they hit home run with 'Stomp' (their second UK No.1 single) and the absolute classic 'It's The Way You Make Me Feel'.
2001's "Gold: Greatest Hits" - featuring the smash cover of 'Chain Reaction' - turned out to be one giant glittery Trojan Horse. After the accompanying tour, Steps made the shock announcement on Boxing Day that they were splitting up. It may have marked the end of an era for one of Britain's most successful pop groups of the 90s/2000s but who could have imagined that 25 years later we'd be here enjoying new music and dazzling concerts by Lee, Claire, Faye, Lisa and H. So no tears at The Last Dance, please! Let's celebrate this golden era of our pop faves and look forward to what the future holds for Steps.
