In 2018, Hasbro announced a new platform that would expand the galaxy of Star Wars toys like never before.
Through HasLab, figures, vehicles and playsets that were considered too costly to produce or too large to sell at retail became possibilities through Hasbro’s crowdfunded-based campaigns. HasLab would present its offering, and Star Wars fans would ultimately decide if it would be produced.
The massive Khetanna, Jabba’s Sail Barge from Return of the Jedi, was the first-ever HasLab project. It would be the largest Star Wars toy made by Hasbro for the 3.75” line, and the most expensive one for consumers as well.
Would HasLab be successful? And would fans choose to “Back the Barge?”
Join host David Quinn for a look at the first chapter of the in-depth series, The History of HasLab. Explore the story of how the beloved Vintage Collection was revived, why Hasbro developed the Khetanna campaign, and what it took to make the barge a toy for fans and collectors.
And take a tour through Jabba’s Sail Barge, as you shrink down to the size of an action figure. It’s unlike anything you’ve experienced with Star Wars toys! (*Try it in headphones!)
