On today's episode, we chat with Soozie Eastman, executive director of Louisville Film Society and documentary filmmaker. Soozie recently released her first documentary feature, "Overload: America's Toxic Love Story." When Soozie set out to make a documentary about the lasting effects chemicals have on our bodies, she never thought it would be a seven-year process, but she did know she wanted to do it HER way. Soozie openly explains her quest for finding more information about what was going into her body in preparation for future children she may have. What she uncovered along the way is very interesting. For the project, she used her own body as the film’s subject, visiting doctors and professionals to find out her toxic levels and to answer the question of how we became exposed to chemicals in our everyday lives. Once Soozie had been tested and learned her chemical levels, she worked to remove chemicals from her body by eliminating certain products and foods. Join us today as we chat about the movie-making process and why she is still on a mission to inform the world about the harmful effects of daily chemical exposure.
